From Paper Sculpture to Production-Ready 3D Assets

Royal Legacy creates handcrafted paper sculptures that film, game, and VFX studios use as physical reference and scan into production-ready 3D assets.

WE BUILD PHYSICAL FOUNDATIONS FOR DIGITAL WORLDS

THE WORKFLOW

Paper to Pixel, End to End

Royal Legacy builds the physical creature maquette. Your studio scans, rigs, and animates it. We deliver the complete design in three dimensions, the overall silhouette, head and facial structure, teeth and horns, wings and extras, spikes and major surface forms, every primary and secondary form resolved as a physical interpretation of your creature. Each sculpture is engineered from the inside out: an accurate internal skeleton, anatomically correct muscles, and a final paper skin. That layered anatomy is what makes it unique, one lightweight sculpture can hold thousands of poses, giving your team a complete pose library from a single hand-built piece.

CREATIVE DIRECTION, IN PRACTICE

“The creature needs to look more aggressive, lower the head, open the wings, twist the body.”

Instead of rebuilding the entire sculpture, we repose it, adjust it, and it is ready to scan again. That speed is what makes our maquettes so valuable during concept development and creature design. And a complex articulated creature can be delivered in as little as 7 days.

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE

Why Royal Legacy

27 Years of Sculpting Experience

Nearly three decades of hand-sculpting anatomy, creatures, drapery, and armor for demanding creative work.

Handcrafted Paper Sculpture

Every piece is built by hand, no printing, no molds. Real material and real light.

Designed for Professional 3D Scanning

Surfaces, markers, and construction are engineered from the start for clean photogrammetry capture.

Multiple Articulated Poses

Our sculptures are never frozen in one pose. Built from a poseable skeleton, anatomically layered muscles, and a final paper skin, a single figure can bend, twist, and hold thousands of positions. When a director asks for changes, lower the head, open the wings, twist the body, we repose, adjust, and the sculpture is ready to scan again. No rebuilds. Skeleton and musculature photos ship with every delivery.

Production-Ready Concept References

Delivered as consistent reference sets your concept, modeling, and VFX teams can work from immediately.

Physical Foundations for Digital Worlds

We are a creative studio that gives digital characters a real-world origin, grounded silhouette, fold, and shadow.

THE MATERIAL

Why Paper?

Paper allows fast iteration, expressive forms, lightweight construction, and multiple articulated poses before digital scanning, the qualities a scan pipeline needs and heavier materials can't offer.

01

FAST ITERATION

A complex, fully articulated creature can be sculpted and delivered in as little as 7 days. Forms are reshaped and refined in hours, and when creative direction shifts we physically modify the piece, head, neck, limbs, wings, tail, overall pose, instead of rebuilding it.

02

EXPRESSIVE FORMS

Paper folds, tears, and layers into silhouettes and textures that feel alive and impossible to fake digitally.

03

LIGHTWEIGHT CONSTRUCTION

Far lighter than clay, resin, or metal, easy to handle, relight, transport, and rig for capture. Shipping and on-set handling become simpler and safer.

04

ARTICULATED POSES

Internal joints and a layered anatomy allow the same sculpture to hold thousands of positions before it ever reaches the scanner. One lightweight paper sculpture delivers the pose library traditional materials would need multiple sculptures to achieve.
